Daniel Altmaier last competed at Wimbledon, which saw him outclassed by Gabriel Diallo in the first-round. The German only registered one victory from three tournaments during the grass court season. Altmaier’s best form of the season occurred in May, as he reached the semi-finals of a Challenger in Turin and then advanced through to the fourth-round of the French Open for the second time in his career. He has shown some form on hard court, having made quarter-final appearances in Rotterdam and Marseille during the early part of the campaign.
Mitchell Krueger is currently ranked 159 in the world. He ended his season on grass with a second-round loss in Newport after failing to reach the main draw at Wimbledon through qualifying. He does have a final appearance this year in Oeiras, two months ago.
Altmaier will be the clear favourite and should be expected to come through this comfortably.
