THE LOWDOWN
LONDON SPIRIT
London Spirit have just a point on the board after two games so far. After losing to Oval Invincibles in a nail-biter at Lord’s, their match against Manchester Originals was abandoned due to rain in the North West with the contest finely poised. Zak Crawley’s availability serves as a boost for the Spirit, who have subsequently left out Michael Pepper to accommodate the England Test opener, with captain Dan Lawrence moving down to number three whilst Crawley opens with wicket-keeper Adam Rossington.
SOUTHERN BRAVE
Southern Brave come into this one on the back of an absolute slaughtering on their own patch at the hands of Northern Superchargers. Their bowlers were flayed to all parts of the Ageas Bowl as the Superchargers racked up 201-3, an average of over two runs per ball. It was going to take a special effort for the Brave to get anywhere close to that score and indeed they didn’t, falling by a whopping 60 runs with Tim David’s 40 top scoring after the top order batters failed once again.
THE PREDICTION
This realistically needs to be the match where London Spirit kick start their tournament with Southern Brave not in the best of form and Crawley back in the fold. The visitors are struggling to put substantial runs on the board and against a good bowling attack here, this may well prove their downfall once again. Whilst London Spirit are unlikely to walk over the Brave, they should just about have enough in the tank to beat them and record a much-needed first victory.
