PAKISTAN
- Pakistan were the better of the two teams in a fairly even match in their opening clash of the Test match series with Australian but it ended in a draw with the conditions not helping either side to chase a result.
- There were some impressive individual performances with Imam-ul-Haq producing back-to-back centuries while Nauman Ali claimed six wickets but on what should be a better pitch, Shaheen Shah Afridi is likely to be very important in this second clash.
AUSTRALIA
- Australia know they have improvements to make, particularly with the ball, if they are to get the better of Pakistan in Karachi having managed to take just four wickets in the first match between the two.
- On a pitch that was never likely to produce a winner, Australia showed some quality with the bat with Marnus Labuschagne among those to impress but Nathan Lyon will need to come to the fore having taken just one wicket in the 78 overs he bowled in Rawalpindi.
THE PREDICTION
Pakistan and Australia played out what was ultimately a bore draw in their opening match of the series. There was some stunning cricket played at times but it was on a pitch that suited the batsmen with very little on offer for the bowlers on a pitch that was effectively a road. There is hope for better conditions in this second game and the hosts will start as favourites but with Australia avoiding defeat in their past three matches against Pakistan, the tourists can extend that unbeaten record by earning at least a draw.
