THE LOWDOWN

MULTAN SULTANS

  • Multan Sultans made a good response to losing their first game of the Pakistan Super League by getting the better of Karachi Kings in their latest contest, running out seven-wicket victors to solidify their spot at the top of the standings.
  • They were pushed all the way in that contest with the bottom side and only managed to surpass their target of 175 to win with just three balls to spare but they showed a gritty side to their game and it will stand them in good stead moving forward.

QUETTA GLADIATORS

  • Quetta Gladiators have now lost back-to-back matches in the PSL after suffering a 24-run loss to Peshawar Zalmi and they are running out of games to book their spot in the knockout phase of the competition.
  • Will Smeed fell desperately short in his quest to notch a century as he was bowled on 99 but his efforts were not matched by those of his teammates with only three others making it into double figures which contributed to their downfall.

THE PREDICTION

Multan Sultans look set to claim first place in the round robin stage of the Pakistan Super League but they will not want to rest on their laurels as they head into their penultimate matchup. They have lost just one of their eight games so far and will be out to improve on that record as they take on a struggling Quetta Gladiators outfit. Having suffered a second straight loss last time out, the Gladiators need to win to stay in contention to make the knockouts but with just three wins to their name to date and having lost the previous two meetings against the Sultans, it would be a surprise if they were able to get back to winning ways in this one.
