JAFFNA KINGS
To Jaffna Kings’ extreme frustration, they were unable to back up victory against Colombo Strikers in Pallekele last Tuesday. Back in action this weekend with two games over the course of Saturday and Sunday, their first match saw them taken down at the hands of B-Love Kandy. Once again Shoaib Malik did his best to save the Kings with the bat, scoring 55 not out in a run chase of 179, but was ultimately unsuccessful as Jaffna fell eight runs short.
GALLE TITANS
With four straight losses to their name, Galle Titans are increasingly starting to look like the one team who won’t take any part in the play-offs with just four points from a possible 12 available to them. Their batting line-up lacks depth and power, which was clearly evident in their last match vs Dambulla Aura. The Titans accumulated just 133 runs for the loss of nine wickets and it was of little surprise to many that Dambulla reached their victory target, doing so with 2.2 overs to spare.
THE PREDICTION
If Jaffa Kings can’t put away a decidedly poor Galle Titans outfit, then they have every right to worry heading into the business end of the 2023 Lanka Premier League. The Titans are proving to be short in all departments and they are yet to look finding any meaningful solutions to their problems. Jaffna Kings responded well back when they lost to Dambulla Aura, beating Colombo Strikers in their following match and should react well this time round as well, by getting the better of a struggling Galle.
