Galle Titans came into the first qualifier as underdogs and as expected, came out second best against group winners Dambulla Aura. They managed to put a competitive score of 146 on the board batting first thanks to Lasith Croospulle’s excellent 80, but the feeling was that it was under-par and so it proved. Dambulla reaching their victory target with two balls to spare. However, the Titans now have a second chance to qualify for the final and a rematch with Dambulla.

B-Love Kandy have ensured that we will have a new Lanka Premier League winner this year after knocking out defending champions Jaffna Kings in the eliminator. Across the entire tournament, Kandy’s skipper Wanindu Hasaranga has been utterly superb with both bat and ball, winning his side games almost single-handedly at times and he saved arguably his best party piece for Thursday.
