THE LOWDOWN

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad made it back-to-back wins thanks to a brilliant eight-wicket success against Gujarat Titans and after failing to win either of their opening two games, they appear to be trending in the right direction now but this will be a real test for them.
  • Kane Williamson and Nicholas Pooran came to the fore in that victory over GT while Abhishek Sharma continued his strong start to the tournament but Thangarasu Natarajan will need his fellow bowlers to provide him with support if they are to get the job done here.

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS

  • Kolkata Knight Riders failed in their quest to make it three straight wins in the IPL as they fell to a big defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals and they will need to be at their best to bounce back in this encounter against an improving Sunrisers Hyderabad.
  • KKR were beaten by 44 runs as they fell well short in their effort to chase down a mammoth target of 216 and they know their bowling unit will need to step up here after giving themselves so much to do to win that contest.

THE PREDICTION

Kolkata Knight Riders have won the past four matchups against Sunrisers Hyderabad but that will count for little if KKR’s bowling unit do not respond to a heavy loss last time out. They allowed Delhi Capitals to score 215 runs and while they were game early in the chase, they ultimately had too much to do and scoreboard pressure told on the lower order. They now face SRH in what should be a brilliant contest, especially as they come into this clash with back-to-back wins. The quality of their batsmen is starting to tell and if skipper Kane Williamson can get himself set once again having scored a half-century last time out, SRH should be able to earn a first win in five games against KKR to make it three successive wins in this year’s tournament.
