THE LOWDOWN
PUNJAB KINGS
- Punjab Kings came away from Dharamsala this past weekend with no points to show for their efforts after losing by 28 runs to Chennai Super Kings,
- Chasing 168 for victory, Punjab were reduced to 9/2 and consistently lost wickets, not building any momentum as they fell to 90/8 and eventually finishing on 139/9.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BENGALURU
- Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their rise from the proverbial cricketing dead last Saturday, winning a third straight game in brutal fashion, chasing down 148 against Gujarat Titans in just 13.4 overs.
- Although RCB lost six wickets in their run chase, going at such a fast rate made up for that, with captain Faf du Plessis laying down the required platform with a rapid 64 from just 23 balls.
THE PREDICTION
If you’d only been watching Royal Challengers Bengaluru this past week, you’d think they were contenders to win the entire tournament, that’s how impressive they’ve been. Instead, RCB are still trying to make up for their awful first half of the competition which left them on the brink of elimination before this recent revival. Right now, it’s hard to see them being stopped, especially by an out of sorts Punjab. Back RCB to record the win needed to keep their play-off hopes alive and take them to double figure points.
