THE LOWDOWN
MUMBAI INDIANS
- Mumbai Indians suffered yet another loss in the Indian Premier League in what was their fifth in succession and time is already against them if they want to progress to the next phase of the tournament.
- Punjab Kings were the latest side to get the better of MI and Suryakumar Yadav producing another impressive batting performance, the Indian needs more support from his teammates if they are to end their losing streak.
LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS
- Lucknow Super Giants failed in their quest to make it four successive victories in the IPL but will still be content with their how their maiden tournament is going and they know that they could quite easily have won their last clash with Rajasthan Royals.
- LSG were not far off as they went down to a three-run loss but with Quinton de Kock continuing to shine with the bat, they look well-placed to put that narrow defeat behind them in this one.
THE PREDICTION
It has been a dreadful start to the tournament for Mumbai Indians and with the halfway point not too far away, it is hard to believe that they have yet to get off the mark. MI have lost all five games so far and look to have a daunting task ahead of them to just remain in contention for a spot in the next round. Lucknow Super Giants have won three of their five games and look capable of being in the mix come the business end of the tournament, pushing the opposition close even when not winning. They were on the end of a narrow loss last time out in what was their first defeat in their last four games but they can capitalise on MI’s woes by making an immediate return to winning ways.
