THE TEAM NEWS
SYDNEY THUNDER
- Sydney Thunder were unable to build on their big win over Brisbane Heat as they failed to overcome Sydney rivals the Sixers in a rain-affected game last time out and that leaves them with just two wins from their opening three matches in the Big Bash League.
- Alex Hales’ struggles continued as last season’s top scorer once again failed to make a significant impact having fallen for 14 and the pressure will be on their key man to rekindle his form.
PERTH SCORCHERS
- Perth Scorchers’ blistering start to the BBL continued as they maintained their 100% record with a sixth successive victory and they look the part in these early stages after their second win in-a-row against Melbourne Renegades.
- Their bowling unit are working in tandem superbly but it is their quality with the bat that continues to shine with Mitch Marsh and Colin Munro combining for an unbeaten, match-winning 99-run partnership in their last outing.
THE PREDICTION
Sydney Thunder have not made the start they would have been hoping
for in this edition of the Big Bash League and having won just two of
their five games so far, they could be in for further woe here. They
come up against a Perth Scorchers side with six straight wins to their
name in what has been an excellent start to proceedings, especially in
light of being forced to move out of Perth for the campaign owing to
COVID-19 restrictions. They have performed superbly with both bat and
ball and will take some beating throughout this tournament if they can
maintain their current levels of performance. The Thunder have the
quality to pose some problems but the consistency of the Scorchers
cannot be overlooked and they are favoured to record yet another
success.
