THE LOWDOWN
SYDNEY THUNDER
- Sydney Thunder made it back-to-back victories in BBL|10 thanks to a thrilling success against Perth Scorchers in their last outing with skipper Callum Ferguson leading the way for his side in the seven-wicket success.
- Adam Milne performed very well on debut for the Thunder as he allowed just 17 runs from his four overs and despite not taking any wickets, his efforts were very important for his side as they limited the Scorchers to 152/5.
- Ferguson was called to the crease early once again as Alex Hales fell for his second golden duck in succession but that only served to help the Thunder as the captain notched a match-winning 61* to guide his side to victory with just three balls to spare.
MELBOURNE RENEGADES
- Melbourne Renegades blew a solid position against Hobart Hurricanes in their latest contest as they suffered their second loss in succession and all eyes will be on their bowling attack in this clash.
- The Renegades recovered very well from falling to 4/2 as they were able to amass 157/5 thanks to a brilliant 109 partnership between Sam Harper (66*) and Rilee Rossouw (59) but that did not prove to be enough.
- 15-year-old Noor Ahmad made his debut for the Renegades but his wicket of the dangerous Peter Handscomb proved to be in vain as the Hurricanes’ Ben McDermott smashed his way to an unbeaten 89 with Hobart surpassing their target with 14 balls remaining.
THE PREDICTION
Melbourne Renegades have plenty of work to do if they are to compete for a spot in the finals of BBL|10 as they failed to respond to their annihilation against Sydney Sixers with a win. They were undoubtedly much better against Hobart Hurricanes but their lack of quality with the ball proved costly. That spells trouble for them against a dangerous Sydney Thunder batting line-up, while they also have solid options in their bowling attack too. The Thunder have won back-to-back matches and until the Renegades can prove that they can compete with both bat and ball, they look set to suffer further disappointment here.
