SYDNEY SIXERS
- Defending champions Sydney Sixers showed their class as they proved to be too good for their Sydney adversaries and their success against the Thunder last time out saw them open up a six-point lead over their rivals at the top of the BBL|10 ladder.
- The Thunder got off to a great start with the bat but when the wickets started to tumble, it felt as though the Sixers were in control with that ascendency aided hugely by Steve O’Keefe after he removed Alex Hales, Sam Billings and Alex Ross.
- With rain impacting play, the Sixers were set a revised target of 129 from 14 overs but they made relatively light work of that thanks to Josh Philippe’s sensational 64 from just 36 balls which helped his side to a five-wicket success.
PERTH SCORCHERS
- Perth Scorchers cemented their status as the in-form team of the competition with a hugely impressive victory over Hobart Hurricanes in their latest encounter which made it five wins from five.
- They did a solid job with the ball to restrict the dangerous Hurricanes’ batting line-up to 139/5 but the bowling unit were outshone by the brilliant efforts of Jason Roy and Liam Livingston with the bat.
- The England pair put on 123 for the first wicket as they made a rapid start to chasing down their target with Roy finishing unbeaten on 74 in a high-quality showing which led the Scorchers to a nine-wicket win, highlighting the threat they pose to the other teams in BBL|10.
THE PREDICTION
Perth Scorchers have earned some eye-catching wins in their five-match winning streak but perhaps the most striking success came last time out as they hammered Hobart Hurricanes. England international Jason Roy showed his class with a superb knock to lead his side to victory and he appears to be hitting form at just the right time but the Scorchers will be keen to make another statement as they take on Sydney Sixers. The reigning champions earned a good win in their top of the ladder clash with Sydney Thunder last time out to solidify their spot in first place and they too have some players hitting form as the competition enters the business end which sets this game up nicely. The Sixers are more than capable of winning again but the Scorchers look full of confidence and having already defeated the Sydney outfit during their current winning run, it is Perth that can extend their excellent form with another success.
