SYDNEY SIXERS
- Sydney Sixers suffered a heavy loss to Perth Scorchers in their most recent contest and that is now two defeats in their last three with a tough contest against in-form Brisbane Heat lying in wait here.
- The Sixers looked to be on top as they had the Scorchers at 99/3 after 14 overs but Mitch Marsh turned the game on its head as he struck 57 from just 27 balls to help his side to 183/4.
- Josh Philippe and James Vince fell inside the first three overs to leave the Sixers struggling and despite making it to 44/2, the remaining eight wickets fell for just 53 runs as the reigning champions collapsed.
BRISBANE HEAT
- Brisbane Heat secured their third win in succession as they claimed another scalp by overcoming Melbourne Stars and with skipper Chris Lynn well and truly back in the groove, the Heat will fancy their chances of earning a spot in the finals.
- In a rain-affected clash, Lynn went big from the off as he whacked 48 from just 23 deliveries to help his side to a formidable total of 115/3 from his side’s ten overs, which meant the Stars needed 129 to win.
- Jack Wildermuth bowled superbly as he allowed just 14 runs from his two overs but Mark Steketee proved to be the key man as he chimed in with three wickets to continue his good form in this tournament.
THE PREDICTION
Brisbane Heat have already defeated Sydney Sixers in BBL|10 and they will believe they can do the double over the defending champions. The Heat come into this on the back of a three-match winning run which started by defeating the Sixers, while it is just one victory in their last three for the Sydney side. Chris Lynn has shown his class since returning from injury and his presence alone appears to have lifted his side who are mounting a real case to finish in the finals after a slow start to the tournament. Coupled with Mark Steketee’s efforts with the ball having taken 15 wickets in the tournament so far, ably backed up by 12 from Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the Heat are looking strong with both bat and ball. It was a big loss for the Sixers last time out and while they are capable of responding, Brisbane can extend their winning streak with another success here.
