THE LOWDOWN
ADELAIDE STRIKERS
- Adelaide Strikers will need to find some greater consistency in their quest to make the finals of BBL|10 as they currently sit in seventh spot with just three games remaining thanks to a heavy loss to Melbourne Stars last time out.
- The Strikers were really poor with the ball with key man Wes Agar struggling as he ended without a wicket and with 46 runs allowed as the Stars managed to amass 179/2 which proved to be plenty.
- A terrible batting collapse then ensued as the Strikers went from 44/2 to 68 all out but for what is surely a must-win contest against Brisbane Heat, Peter Siddle could return from injury while Travis Head and Michael Neser could feature after completing their Test commitments.
BRISBANE HEAT
- Brisbane Heat find themselves just outside of the top five after a big loss to Perth Scorchers in their most recent contest but they will be disappointed by the manner of that defeat after making a solid start.
- The Heat removed the dangerous Jason Roy in just the second over while Liam Livingston fell in the fourth but Brisbane failed to capitalise as they struggled to deal with Colin Munro who notched 82 as the Scorchers scored 174/5.
- Brisbane’s reply did not start well and when Chris Lynn fell on 27, the Heat were unable to really get going as only two other batsmen in Joe Denly and Lewis Gregory made it into double-figures which saw the Heat bowled out for just 115.
THE PREDICTION
These two teams both sit on the cusp of the top five but with just three games to go, they are likely to need to win at least two of their remaining contests to qualify for the finals which means the loser of this is left in a precarious position. Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat both come into this on the back of heavy losses in their last outing but they are set to be boosted by the return of their Test players for this contest. Travis Head and Michael Neser have been named in the Strikers’ squad while Marnus Labuschagne and Mitch Swepson look set to play for the Heat which will add some real quality to the respective outfits. The pair have each won five and lost six of their matches so far leaving very little to separate the two but if the Heat can get a couple of their batsmen set, they have the power to cause some serious damage and they can be the side to come away with the win from this one.
