THE PREDICTION
With Deccan Gladiators and The Chennai Braves gaining first use of the pitch in a triple-header at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, the respective top orders of both teams will be itching to take advantage, which may lead to plenty of boundaries here. However, whilst Chennai can call upon the services of West Indies international Nicholas Pooran, Deccan Gladiators won’t be overly fearful of the batting line-up they are up against from a big-hitting perspective. Deccan meanwhile, have plenty of proven batting firepower within their ranks. All-rounder Andre Russell immediately stands out, as does countryman Evin Lewis whilst Namibian international David Wiese may prove one of the smartest pickups of the tournament following his excellent T20 World Cup. Left-arm fast bowler Tymal Mills will be a miss for Deccan Gladiators, but that shouldn’t prevent them from outscoring The Chennai Braves and picking up the win in their opening match of the competition.
