On the penultimate match day in Group C of the third round of CONCACAF qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, there were a couple of upsets to leave both of these sides now in jeopardy of missing out on top spot.

Honduras suffered a shock defeat in Nicaragua, whilst the Costa Ricans were beaten away from home against Haiti. That means that if Honduras were to drop points in Costa Rica then Haiti defeating Nicaragua at home would see Haiti qualify for next summer. In order for Costa Rica to qualify, they would have to win and hope that Nicaragua produce another upset to deny Haiti a seemingly straightforward home win.

Honduras know they can’t necessarily just get away with a draw, and Costa Rica have to win no matter what, so it could be quite a fun and dramatic watch for the neutral.
