Protektortat has won both of his races at Aintree to date and is fancied to make it three from three here. He’s a consistent type and having ran a superb race to finish third behind A Plus Tard in last month’s Gold Cup at Cheltenham, he looks to have the best form in the race.

Inca De Lafayette looks the classiest horse in this field by a considerable distance and that could tell. Having moved to Paul Nicholls’ yard, he got off to a winning start for his new trainer back in February over C&D to build on the win in his prior outing so a hat-trick is on the cards here.

18:15 Chelmsford City

Foreshadow was a creditable third in a handicap at Wolverhampton in his last outing and can build on that in what will be his debut on the polytrack. He wasn’t given a clear run in that race last time out so a clearer run combined with the step up in trip should help him get his nose in front.
