THE TEAM NEWS

MIAMI HEAT

  • The Heat are coming off a 115-108 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder and that result extended a two-game winning run. This run has ended a two-game losing stretch, and they have gone 3-2 over their last five contests. Miami have been surprisingly good this season, and they are in second place of the East standings with a strong 29-12 record.
  • Miami won’t have star rookie Tyler Herro, who’s dealing with a knee injury and he has already been ruled out fot this contest. Defensive specialist Justise Winslow has been listed as questionable, and he should be a game-time decision. Kyle Alexander is also questionable due to a knee problem.
  • Jimmy Butler is Miami’s biggest star, but Kendrick Nunn has been the team’s best player of late. The rookie guard has scored 20 or more points in each of his last three outings, and he is averaging 19.0 points per contest over his last six contests.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS

  • The Spurs are coming off a 121-120 defeat against the Atlanta Hawks in their previous contest, and that result extended their losing streak to two contests. They are 3-2 over their last five matches and while they remain outside the playoff zone, they still own a 17-23 record and are in ninth place.
  • Gregg Popovich could have his entire team available for this contest. The lone potential absentee could be veteran wing Rudy Gay, who has been deemed as questionable due to an undisclosed injury.
  • LaMarcus Aldridge is coming off a 30-point performance in his previous game, and he is averaging 18.4 points per game during his last 10 games. He has been hot from deep of late, however, making 51.9 percent of his long-range shots during that stretch.

THE PREDICTION

The Spurs have dropped their last two games, while the Heat are on a two-game winning streak of their own. All things considered, Miami have been far better during the entire season and should be able to win here. They have a stronger defensive unit, a better offense and far more options to upset opposing defences with names such a Jimmy Butler and Kendrick Nunn playing at a high level. Despite the fact San Antonio will be at home, Miami are likely to secure a second-straight win over the Texas-based franchise here.
