MULTAN SULTANS

Coach: Tom Moody

Captain: Shoaib Malik

  • The Sultans' dream start to their debut PSL campaign continues as they have two wins from two matches and have produced two impressive displays in both of their matches so far against Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars.
  • Veteran Kumar Sangakkara continued his blistering start to PSL 2018 and his form at the top of the order is setting the platform for the rest of the side and with Ahmed Shehzad and Shoaib Malik contributing with the bat too, they have plenty of depth.
  • Junaid Khan hit the headlines with his hat-trick against the Qalandars last time out along with Mohammad Irfan and Imran Tahir so they are looking strong with quality options in batting and bowling right now.

ISLAMABAD UNITED

Coach: Dean Jones

Captain: Misbah-ul-Haq

  • Islamabad United lost their opening match to the Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday and were thoroughly dominated as their 34-run defeat could have been significantly greater had it not been for Faheem Ashraf’s consolation knock of 54 runs off 30 balls.
  • Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq missed the opening game with a hamstring problem and that did not help matters as Rumman Raees replaced him and his captaincy was poor as he misjudged his bowling options and only brought lead strike bowler Mohammad Sami back in the 18th over when he had two remaining.
  • Misbah may miss out once again but either way, they desperately need the top of their batting order to significantly raise their game after an embarrassing run chase on Saturday which saw them four wickets down with just 25 on the board.

PREDICTION
Contrasting starts for both of these teams as the Sultans are on fire right now and their confidence is absolutely flying. On the other hand, United were heavily beaten in their opening game on Saturday and their batting line-up looked incredibly fragile while their bowlers struggled too. Early form has to favour the Sultans who are playing some excellent cricket right now and can make it three wins from three.
