THE TEAM NEWS
BANGLADESH
Coach: Steve Rhodes
Captain: Mashrafe Mortaza
- Bangladesh come into this match with the confidence of having won their last four games against West Indies including three in a tri-nation series in Ireland prior to the World Cup.
- Their last match against Sri Lanka was rained off without a ball being bowled and after previous results, they will know they simply have to win this match to have any chance of a final four place.
- Despite losing heavily to England in their last completed game, they could name an unchanged team which will mean star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will play after being an injury doubt for the abandoned match.
WEST INDIES
Coach: Floyd Reifer
Captain: Jason Holder
- The pressure is firmly on the West Indies coming into this game as they bid to make up ground on the top four and this is a must-win game after they lost to England comprehensively on Friday.
- It was their batting that let them down against England when they were bowled out for just 212 and now they come up against a Bangladeshi outfit who have beaten them in their last four meetings.
- Andre Russell remains a major doubt as he continues to struggle along with a knee and wrist problem, and they could well decide to rest him here while Evin Lewis’ position is far from safe after another failure with the bat against England.
THE PREDICTION
This match is virtually a must-win game for both of these teams and they need the points to close on the top four places. Bangladesh have an outstanding record against the Windies lately having won their last four meetings and the Windies are going to have to come up with a different game plan against them. Shai Hope is the only Windies batsman to nail the Bangladeshi bowlers and a lot rests on his shoulders. The Asian outfit could just have too much here for the Windies based on recent performances in a tight match.
