The Lowdown
GRIGOR DIMITROV
- Dimitrov has come through some epic battles in his run to the last eight with his four-set victory over home favourite Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round particularly notable.
- The Bulgarian has improved as the tournament has progressed and this is clearly a tournament he thrives in given that he reached the semi-finals last year.
KYLE EDMUND
- Edmund has been flying the British flag admirably in Murray's absence with this quarter-final appearance a career best in a Grand Slam.
- He is full of confidence having come through two five-set affairs to reach this stage and here he faces an opponent who he pushed to the brink in a recent meeting in Brisbane.
The Statistics

The Prediction
Edmund has played some of the best tennis of his career to reach the quarter-finals and has clearly relished being the underdog in most of his matches. Dimitrov will not underestimate him as the pair contested an incredibly close match in Brisbane recently which the Brit may have won had he not rolled his ankle in the final set. The quarter-final of a Grand Slam is a different matter though and Dimitrov has the experience of being here before, so he gets the nod.
