- Petra Kvitova was made to work for her straight-sets third-round win over Magda Linette but the result never looked in doubt.
- Kvitova has both won and lost to Konta at this stage of a grass-court tournament, losing at Eastbourne in 2016 but winning last year in Birmingham.
- The Czech two-time Wimbledon champion has also played Johanna Konta at this stage of a Grand Slam, in the round of 16 at the 2015 US Open.
THE PREDICTION
It looked as if Johanna Konta would lose to Sloane Stephens for the first time in her third-round match on Saturday but the British number one used the support from the home crowd to rally herself to win. While she will be supported as strongly in the round of 16, Petra Kvitova is a two-time Wimbledon champion and well-loved at SW19, and will not be made to feel like the villain of the piece. It is difficult to see Konta making it past Kvitova with the Czech in such excellent form, but this match should go to a decider where the crowd could make the difference again.
