ASHLEIGH BARTY

  • Ashleigh Barty made short work of British youngster Harriet Dart in their third round match and conceded just two games in a straight sets victory.
  • World number one Barty will face Serena Williams in the quarter-finals if they both win in the round of 16, with the winner of that match the sure favourite for the title.
  • Barty has never reached the second week at Wimbledon before but has not yet dropped a set in this year’s campaign and reached the quarter-finals at the Australian Open before winning Roland-Garros.

ALISON RISKE

  • American Alison Riske fought from a set down to beat the 13th seed Belinda Bencic in her third successive three-set match.
  • Riske is through to the round of 16 at Wimbledon for the first time and has only reached this stage once before at a Grand Slam at the 2013 US Open.
  • 29-year-old Riske’s success at Wimbledon should come as no surprise this year after she won the Surbiton Challenger title and then the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships the following week.

THE PREDICTION

Alison Riske is a fighter and showed plenty of grit and determination in her third-round win over Belinda Bencic as she came back from a set down. The American has two titles on grass this year, including her Challenger title at Surbiton, both of which she won over quality opposition. Ashleigh Barty’s third-round match could not have been more different and was over in under an hour and she has yet to be challenged at this tournament. While Riske will be solid competition, the Australian should win in two close-fought sets.
