DENMARK
- Denmark were beaten 3-1 by holders Germany in their opening fixture on Monday as they were facing a third consecutive 3-0 UEFA EURO U21 defeat against Germany but managed to grab a consolation goal.
- It was arguably Denmark's most impressive player, Robert Skov who hammered home the penalty against Germany and they will be hoping he can inspire them to victory this time out.
- The Danes won 5-0 against Austria when they met in a friendly match in March 2018, thanks to goals from Jacob Bruun Larsen, Marcus Ingvartsen, Robert Skov, Nikolai Laursen and Jannik Pohl so that will give them some confidence coming into this game.
AUSTRIA
- Austria marked their UEFA European Under-21 Championship final tournament debut with a 2-0 defeat of Serbia on Monday thanks to goals from Hannes Wolf and Man-of-the-Match Sascha Horvath, who struck a fine late long-range free-kick.
- Austria missed a number of good chances to put the game out of Serbia’s reach and were nearly made to pay for their profligacy as the Serbians had a couple of excellent opportunities before Horvath made the game safe.
- They have now won each of their last four competitive matches with clean sheets in the three most recent matches of that sequence so confidence is excellent as they come up against a Danish side that need a result.
THE PREDICTION
Austria will be on a high after capping their debut match at a UEFA European Under-21 Championship final tournament with a victory and will be hoping to keep the momentum going against a Danish team looking to bounce back from an opening game defeat against Germany. Both teams are realistically playing for second place in the group so this is a pivotal match. Austria are not likely to get as many chances in front of goal as they did against Serbia and at the other end of the pitch, they will have to be wary of Robert Skov who might prove to be the match winner for the Danes in a close encounter.
