- Cronulla suffered a hugely disappointing loss as they were defeated by the side at the bottom of the table in Canterbury last week and will need to bounce back here not ensure they do not lose further ground on those teams above them.
- The Sharks almost had a full squad to choose from last week but will be without Wade Graham for this contest as he is on Origin duty with Kurt Capewell promoted to the run-on side in the back row.
- Kyle Flanagan takes Capewell’s place on the bench whilst Aaron Woods will start with Jack Williams dropping to the bench meaning Blayke Brailey has been unable to force his way back into the side.

- Brisbane suffered yet another poor defeat with some of their play a real concern and now have a real task on to make the play-offs with this week looking a daunting task as the Broncos have no less than nine players unavailable.
- With the Origin decider set to be played next week, the Broncos will be missing several players through those call-ups and have also lost Richie Kennar and Anthony Milford to injury which sees a hugely-changed side from last week.
- The Broncos will hand debuts to Herbie Farnworth and Xavier Coates on the wings and Rhys Kennedy from the bench whilst Keenan Palasia is expected to be a late inclusion to make it four debutants as they face a baptism of fire.
THE PREDICTION
Brisbane produced some shocking play in their loss to Newcastle last week as their squad continues to underperform and time is running out if they want to make a run to the play-offs. They now head to Cronulla with an under-strength side which should see the Sharks bounce back. The Broncos’ young side will become even younger this week as they are set to field four debutants and whilst their youthful exuberance could be a positive, the Sharks should be too strong for them.
