THE TEAM NEWS
SOUTH KOREA
- South Korea were all but eliminated from the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup as they suffered a shock 2-0 defeat against Nigeria to leave the Koreans without a point or even a goal two games in.
- After a heavy 4-0 loss to France in their opener, Korea conceded a further two goals against the Nigerians to leave them needing a miracle to progress to the last 16 and will need a win against Norway to stand any chance.
- Lee Mi-Na failed to capitalise on her chance in the starting XI and may find herself back out of the team for this final group contest with that set to be one of several changes as Yoon Deok-yeo rotates his side following their largely disappointing displays so far.
NORWAY
- Norway put in a superb performance against France but were beaten by a penalty with just under 20 minutes left in a high-quality contest against the hosts to leave their hopes of qualifying in the balance.
- The 2-1 loss to France was not a disaster by any means and the Norwegians should still progress if they beat South Korea with Nigeria facing a tough assignment against France in the other group game.
- Norway may look to rotate their options in the final third with Karina Sævik and Lisa-Marie Utland set to battle it out for a spot in the starting XI after both starting a game apiece so far.
THE PREDICTION
Norway pushed France all the way in their last game and will be looking to carry that performance into their final game of Group A against pointless and goalless South Korea. The Koreans have been dreadful so far and with their World Cup all but over, they may struggle for motivation against Norway. They may opt to give some of their fringe players a chance to impress after two poor displays but with plenty on the line for the Norwegians, they are likely to be too good and will claim the win they need to see them progress to the last 16.
