THE TEAM NEWS
COLOMBIA
- Columbia were too good for Argentina as they claimed an important victory in their opening match at the 2019 Copa America as they put themselves in a great position to progress to the quarter-finals.
- James Rodriguez was key to his side’s victory as he set up substitute Roger Martinez for his side’s first to break the deadlock with 19 minutes remaining before Duvan Zapata came off the bench to secure the win late on.
- Luis Muriel’s Copa America lasted just 14 minutes as he was taken off with a knee injury that will rule him out for the rest of the tournament and whilst he cannot be replaced now the tournament has started, Martinez is set to take his place in the starting XI.
QATAR
- Qatar fought back from 2-0 down to earn a very creditable point against Paraguay in their opening match of the Copa America but now face another tough contest as they face Columbia.
- Having found themselves two goals down with just over 20 minutes remaining, Almoez Ali continued his fine form for his country by pulling his side within a goal before a Rodrigo Rojas own goal ensured Qatar claimed a draw.
- After such a solid display, Felix Sanchez is unlikely to make any changes to his side after he only made a solitary change during the game with Paraguay with Abdulaziz Hatem coming on for the final few minutes.
THE PREDICTION
Qatar put in a valiant performance in their opening game of the Copa America as they earned a draw from their game with Paraguay but now face Columbia who come into the game on the back of a solid win over Argentina. The Columbians will be looking to carry on where they left off but must do so without the services of Luis Muriel who has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament. Despite that blow and although Qatar will again be competitive, they should have too much and can make it two wins in a row.
