BOLIVIA
- Bolivia suffered a disappointing start to the 2019 Copa America as they were downed by hosts Brazil in a one-sided affair in their opening match in Group A and will need to bounce back quickly as they face Peru.
- Brazil were better in all departments as the Bolivans’ run without a win was extended to eight matches with another tough game lying in wait for the team ranked 62nd in the world.
- Bolivia struggled to get hold of the ball against Brazil and although they should see more against Peru, they will need to be better with it having failed to create much in front of goal with Leonardo Vaca and Diego Wayar both pushing for places in the starting XI as they attempt to earn their first win.
PERU
- Peru put in a hard-fought performance to claim a point from their opening Group A clash with Venezuela and will now be hoping they can go one better as they face Bolivia in what is likely to be a pivotal clash.
- The Peruvians managed to keep Venezuela at bay and outplayed their opponents for large spells but could not take advantage of their opponents being reduced to ten men for the final 15 minutes as the shares were spoiled.
- Christian Cueva left the field at half-time for Peru and he is a doubt for this game with a head knock which would leave a big gap in the Peruvian midfield with Edison Flores the favourite to take his place having replaced him in the Venezuela game.
THE PREDICTION
Peru had to settle for a draw against Venezuela in their opening game of the Copa America but will see a clash with Bolivia as the perfect chance to secure their first win of this year’s competition. The Bolivians have failed to win any of their last eight matches and will struggle to pose a threat in this one. Peru have a much better squad and will target this game for a win to put themselves in a good position to progress to the knockout stages before a tougher game with hosts Brazil in their next game.
