THE TEAM NEWS
HAITI
- Haiti will be hoping to progress to the knockout stages of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup after they were handed a relatively good draw in Group B with Costa Rica the only side ranked above them in the world rankings.
- With four wins from four in the CONCACAF Nations League qualifying campaign, the Haitians head into this competition in good form in comepetive games although they have lost two of their three warm-up matches against El Salvador and Chile.
- Duckens Nazon is a powerful proposition to deal with up front and after six goals in just two games in the Nations League qualifiers, he is likely to be the key man for Haiti whilst Derrick Etienne is another player to watch.
BERMUDA
- Bermuda will make their Gold Cup debut and head to the United States with no pressure on them as they look to enjoy themselves in their first appearance at the tournament with a game against Haiti to begin.
- The Bermudians enjoyed an impressive CONCACAF Nations League qualifying campaign as they ended with a record of 3-1 which included a 12-0 victory over Sint Maarten.
- Half of Bermuda’s best side feature in their domestic league with Burnley’s Nahki Wells their biggest name and most important player whilst Zeiko Lewis and Justin Donawa will be tasked with providing goals too.
THE PREDICTION
Bermuda will get the chance to showcase their talents with them appearing in the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the first time. They will face Haiti in their first game which will be a tough contest for them but will play with plenty of freedom with no pressure on them. Haiti on the other hand may feel the strain as they are expected to progress to the knockout stages but with some in-form players in their squad, particularly in front of goal, they should have too much and can earn a win in this Group B clash.
