  • St Helens couldn’t bounce back from a slow start against Wakefield with it ultimately costing them. Wakefield went 22-6 up midway through the first half and despite Saints getting back into the game, Wakefield remained in front and held on 24-20.
  • St Helens will be without the services of Zeb Taia and Mark Percival this week. Taia picked up an injury last week whilst Percival must serve a one-match ban. James Bentley and Jack Ashworth receive call-ups in their place.
  • The loss against Wakefield was only the second time this season that Saints have tasted defeat and ended a four-game winning run.

  • Huddersfield blew a good chance to pick up a valuable win as they allowed Salford to claim the spoils last week. The Red Devils scored a couple of late tries to add some gloss to the score and were aided by Danny Brough’s red card as they downed the Giants 12-30.
  • Interim head coach Chris Thorman will be without Brough after he picked up a three-match ban following his red card last week. Jared Simpson and Matty English also drop out with Tyler Dickinson, Colton Roche and Sam Wood returning.
  • Despite only being three points away from the top 8, Huddersfield look in trouble down at the bottom of the table. Some of their most experienced players are still missing and they have now won just one game their last nine games.

THE PREDICTION

St Helens fell to a shock defeat against Wakefield last week as they felt the loss of captain James Roby but will get a chance to bounce straight back against Huddersfield. The Giants last won a game on 9th March and are in desperate need of a win to keep the top 8 in sight. They will be without Danny Brough after he picked up a three-match ban to further weaken their side. Saints are without a couple of big players themselves but are in a much better position to cope and will respond to last week’s defeat with a win on home soil to extend Huddersfield’s winless run.
