  • Parramatta snapped their losing streak as they held off North Queensland last week. The Eels built up a 16-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes and despite two late tries for the Cowboys, it wasn’t enough to prevent the Eels claiming a 20-14 win.

  • Brad Arthur has named the same 17 that won their first game in six matches last week but Mitchell Moses could be a late inclusion having been named in the reserves.

  • Parramatta kept the ball alive effectively last week with them making 10 offloads in the game. That in part resulted in the Eels forcing the Cowboys into making 19 ineffective tackles with Parramatta only making six of their own throughout the game.

  • South Sydney managed to grind out a narrow win over Gold Coast to continue their impressive run of form. The Rabbitohs have now won their last six games after last week’s 16-18 victory over the Titans.

  • Greg Inglis, Dane Gagai, Angus Crichton and Damien Cook all return after not backing up after Origin duties last week. Cameron Murray and Adam Doueihi move back to the bench with Robbie Farah dropping out of the 17. Campbell Graham is the other man to make way with him missing out through injury.

  • South Sydney’s run of eight consecutive matches of scoring 20 points or more came to an end in last week’s game with Gold Coast as the Rabbitohs fell two points short of that total.

THE PREDICTION

Parramatta’s long wait for a win came to an end last week as they overcome North Queensland but they face a different battle against South Sydney this week. The Rabbitohs have won their last six games as their assault on the top of the NRL continues. What’s worse for the Eels is that the Rabbitohs can recall their Origin stars after all four of them sat out last week’s win over the Titans. Whilst Parramatta improved in many areas of their game last week following a shocking display against Newcastle in their previous encounter, they now face the NRL’s form team in South Sydney. The Rabbitohs only just held on against Gold Coast last week but with their Origin players back to boost the ranks, this week can be more comfortable for them.
