Under the management of former Portugal international Tulipa, who has also coached Porto’s youth team, Ararat-Armenia finished second in the Armenian Premier League behind champions Noah last season. They reached the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League last season.

Universitatea Cluj come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with UTA Arad in their most recent outing at the weekend in the Romanian SuperLiga. They have started their domestic campaign with a win and a draw thus far and actually sit at the top-of-the-table domestically after two matches on goal difference.

This one does appear to be quite an evenly matched tie and it could simply come down to home advantage in each leg, so Ararat are slight favourites for this first-leg.
