Namsrai Batbayar: “Steppe Warrior” arrives with ten finishes from ten wins
Andre Lima (11-1) is still best remembered for having a chunk bitten out of him by Igor Severino on debut, but the multiple time kickboxing champion has built a far better resume than that. Wins over Mitch Raposo, Felipe dos Santos and a third round submission of Daniel Barez took him to 11-0, before Kevin Borjas handed him his first professional loss in June. Lima is a patient, precise counter striker who holds a high guard, works behind single shots at range, and defends takedowns very well. The weakness exposed by Borjas was that he struggled to cut the cage when chasing down mobile opponents.

Namsrai Batbayar vs Andre Lima prediction
The Borjas exposed that Lima simply couldn’t cut the cage on an opponent who refused to stand in front of him and circled all night. The thing is, that weakness needs a specific type of opponent to punish it, and Batbayar is the opposite of that man. He is coming forward to trade, which hands Lima exactly the fight he wants. Lima wasn’t beaten head to head in the striking or grappling in June, he just couldn’t find the angles. Being the skilled prospect he is, I expect Lima to have learnt from that fight.
Batbayar’s path is a narrow one and it runs through the first two rounds. He starts fast, Lima traditionally doesn’t, and there’s a version of this where the Mongolian pressures his way into the clinch, finds a trip, and tests a submission defence that hasn’t been probed much. But Lima’s takedown defence has held up, he’s shown good control and transitions to dominant positions when the fight does hit the mat, and he isn’t going to entertain a fence battle, he’ll circle out and punish Batbayar on the backfoot.
Batbayar is hittable. He is confident in the pocket and shows decent head movement in there, but it’s been against a considerably lower level of opposition than what’s in front of him now. Lima’s timing and precision will find the target if Batbayar plays around too long. Expect the Mongolian to have his moments early, then fade as Lima starts picking his shots from round two.
Prediction: Andre Lima to win
