Viacheslav Borshchev: "Slava Claus" looks to snap a two fight losing skid knowing his job is likely on the line

Entering this contest looking to preserve his spot on the UFC roster, Team Alpha Male representative, Viacheslav Borshchev (8-6-1), enters this contest at a rough 1-3-1 across his last five fights. Perhaps what has been more concerning for "Slava Claus" is the fact that his trademark toughness has apparently started to fade after a career filled with wars, losing by stoppage twice in the last eighteen months after going his entire career without getting finished. Moreover, the Russian's only win in the last five years has come over James Llontop, a fighter who washed out of the promotion with an 0-3 record.

Matheus Camilo: Can Camilo secure his first UFC win after his most recent booking fell apart?

Originally slated to compete at UFC 321, Matheus Camilo (9-3) found himself without an opponent on the Abu Dhabi PPV after Abdul-Kareem Al-Salwady withdrew due to personal reasons at the last minute. "Jaguar" finds himself on deck for his sophomore promotional appearance just shy of a month later, looking to make a statement after losing to Gabe Green by submission in his debut back in May. At 24, Camilo has decent levels of competition under his belt from his time on the regional scene. He has a well rounded skillset and has scored six finishes in nine fights.

Viacheslav Borshchev vs Matheus Camilo prediction

Borshchev might be favoured to win this one with the oddsmakers if it was taking place during the early days of his time with the promotion, but he's looked absolutely awful as of late. He offered up virtually no resistance in his latest loss to Terrance McKinney, landing nothing and tapping out to a guillotine in the space of 51 seconds.

Camilo is no world beater, but you seemingly doesn't need to be anywhere close to one in order to beat "Slava Claus" these days. "Jaguar" is younger, more well-rounded, and has also only ever lost by submission in his young career, a weakness that doesn't seem poised to factor greatly considering that Borshchev has zero submission victories in eight professional victories.

Furthermore, it's worth taking the relatively short notice nature of this match up into account. Camilo was primed to compete at UFC 322 less than a month ago; he's likely in excellent shape and itching to get back in there. By contrast, Borshchev has had much less time to prepare in earnest, adding yet another card to the deck that is seemingly stacked against him.

"Slava Claus" might have won this during his early days with the promotion, but he looks to be on the way out here.

Prediction: Matheus Camilo to win
