THE PREDICTION
World number five Andrey Rublev can play without pressure this week in Paris-Bercy after his excellent three-set victory over Alexander Zverev at the Vienna Open confirmed his place at the ATP Finals next month. The 26-year-old lost in the semi-finals to eventual champion Jannik Sinner last week but he certainly brings strong form into the second round after finishing runner-up to Hubert Hurkacz in Shanghai – his second Masters final this season after breaking his duck at this level with victory in Monte-Carlo. World number 49 Yoshihito Nishioka overcame Jordan Thompson in three sets on Monday to back-up some solid qualifying over the weekend but this looks too steep a challenge right now. The 28-year-old shares a competitive 2-2 head-to-head with Rublev, beating the Russian in the semi-finals of the Washington 500 last summer, but Rublev claimed their most recent encounter in straight sets at the Madrid Masters in April and he has improved considerably since. Back Rublev to win outright inside an accumulator or take straight sets on its own.
BETTING TIP: Andrey Rublev to win 2-0.
