THE PREDICTION

World number 87 Brandon Nakashima grabbed his best result since 2022 with a huge upset over second seed Andrey Rublev on Tuesday, stunning the Russian to back-up an excellent opener over Dan Evans. The 22-year-old won the Next Gen ATP Finals at the end of an exemplary 2022 but he has since endured a tough time on tour, falling out of the top 100 before things started looking positive again in recent months.

World number 30 Tomas Martin Etcheverry enjoyed a comfortable opener over qualifier Nick Hardt on Tuesday but this will be a much tougher challenge in a first meeting with Nakashima, who will be desperate to make the most of this chance at a prestigious tournament. 24-year-old Etcheverry is the more comfortable clay-courter but he has so far struggled to exert dominance on the surface this season, currently far from the level that he reached the last eight at Roland-Garros last summer, to suggest taking Nakashima to earn at least a set is the suitable way to avoid a result.

TIP: BRANDON NAKASHIMA TO WIN A SET
