THE PREDICTION

World number 10 Taylor Fritz is one of 11 players still capable of qualifying for the ATP Finals, although of that number he is part of five or six in the better positions to do so. The 25-year-old will be hugely disappointed with his pursuit of Turin, though, after suffering early exits in each of his last three tournaments following a run to the quarter-finals of the US Open last month. Three defeats from a set up to Diego Schwartzman, Shintaro Mochizuki and Alexander Shevchenko are proof that the American’s confidence on court is currently very thin and that could be a problem against world number 29 Sebastian Baez despite the Argentine’s two consummate defeats to the American before now. 22-year-old Baez cam be inconsistent but there is little doubt in his bravery on court and he only recently found the form of his career to go 12 matches unbeaten – picking up his third and fourth ATP titles.

Fritz has blasted past Baez in their previous encounters but this could come a lot closer. With the pressure on, the suitably cautious call is backing the American to earn at least a set but Fritz should be, realistically, coming through the outright winner.

BETTING TIP: Taylor Fritz to win a set.
