World number 122 Storm Hunter finished runner-up in the Woman’s Doubles at Indian Wells on Saturday, alongside partner Katerina Siniakova, and she took that momentum into a strong qualifying campaign here in Miami. The 29-year-old proved to herself that she is capable of enjoying a tour-level singles career of her own after an excellent run to the third round at the Australian Open, where she took the first set from Barbora Krejcikova before being edged out, but she has failed to win a match since to make this a tough call.
Former world number 18 Martina Trevisan is certainly capable of going on a run here at the Miami Open but the Italian is one of the more ‘specialist’ clay-courters on tour.
