World number 79 Jiri Vesely set a career-high ATP world ranking of 35th back in 2015, the same year he won his first career ATP title at the Auckland International. The Czech found some success on the Challenger circuit last season but his second and most recent tour title came at the Pune Open in 2020. He faces 23-year-old American Stefan Kozlov, who is making his main draw debut at a Grand Slam here. The world number 168 also enjoyed a successful stint on the Challenger circuit last season and this first tour-level meeting with Vesely looks like it has sets in it for both players. A winner is tough to call here with Kozlov a relative unknown on his Grand Slam debut but take this match to see at least four sets if possible or for the youngster to snatch at least one.
