World number 51 Marc-Andrea Huesler enjoyed a transformative few months late last season on indoor hardcourts, culminating in winning his maiden ATP title at the Sofia Open, but the Swiss takes a four-match losing streak into his Indian Wells debut. The 26-year-old is the better player in these conditions but world number 120 Pedro Martinez is much better than his current ranking suggests and Huesler’s low confidence could be the defining factor of this first meeting between the two.
