THE PREDICTION

Former world number 13 Nick Kyrgios saw a nine-match winning streak snapped by Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals of the Canada Masters on Friday with the Aussie looking weary towards the end. The 27-year-old stunned world number one Daniil Medvedev in three sets in Montreal in a streak that included results over Frances Tiafoe, Reilly Opelka and Tommy Paul as he raced through to a second Citi Open title in three years the week before. Kyrgios will break back inside the top 30 on Monday but he should be ranked well inside the top 20 on form, with his run to the Wimbledon final unfortunately not rewarded with ranking points. 23-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is at his best on the clay, where he reached a first Masters final at the Monte-Carlo Open back in April, and the Spaniard lost in the first round of Montreal last week to Diego Schwartzman. A quick turnaround from Canada may see a sluggish start from Kyrgios but he is backing himself right now and his imperious serve should need a top 10 player to break it in Cincinnati. Back the Aussie to win outright in this first meeting with ADF, probably in two.
