THE PREDICTION

Defending champion Cam Norrie overcame Thiago Seyboth Wild in the middle of a fiery quarter-finals day in Rio where all three participating Brazilians were edged out in three sets. That mass exodus may see Saturday a little subdued but Norrie has the best experience of the remaining four to combat that and there are some encouraging signs of improving form after a relatively poor 2023. 22-year-old Mariano Navone came back from a set down to oust teenager starlet Joao Fonseca on Friday and he will set a new career-high inside the top 80 for his efforts. The Argentine has beaten some tough foes on clay to earn this biggest match of his young career but Norrie should be able to turn the screw at this stage of the tournament to at least reach the final. Back the Brit to win outright, with three sets about as likely as two.

TIP: CAM NORRIE TO WIN
