19-year-old Jerry Shang grabbed another brilliant upset with a tight three-set victory over Miomir Kecmanovic on Wednesday. The Chinese will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 112th for his efforts so far but he stands a real chance at more this week having also upset the likes of Frances Tiafoe and in-form Jordan Thompson in 2024, World number 28 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina reached the semi-finals of the Canada Masters last August, proving his credentials when his difficult game finds a rhythm, but he has struggled to make much of a dent on tour since. The 24-year-old was shocked by another up-and-coming youngster, Jakub Mensik, at the Qatar Open last month but he did avenge that defeat in Dubai a week later.
