Will Jacks was the hero for England in the first ODI, scoring a crucial unbeaten 46 down the order before picking up a five-wicket-haul with his spin bowling as the hosts closed out an 89-run win. It wasn’t easy for batting and Jacks helped rip through the Sri Lankan order, which has struggled throughout this white ball series.
At Headingley, you would expect the quicker bowlers to be afforded some joy and after only picking up the one wicket last time out, Josh Tongue could be the one to make a more decisive contribution this time around. Tongue’s pace makes him a significant wicket-taking threat, especially if the surface is offering movement and bounce. Back him to at least double his wicket tally if selected and for England to maintain their 100% record across both T20i and ODI cricket this month.
