JORDAN THOMPSON VS MAXIMILIAN MARTERER PREDICTION
World number 36 Jordan Thompson finally won his maiden ATP title at the Los Cabos Open back in February, stunning top seed Alexander Zverev before a second top 10 win in the final over Casper Ruud. The 30-year-old has put in a lot of work over the past 12 months but he has struggled to transfer his form into singles tennis since the start of the clay swing, despite winning doubles titles in Houston and Madrid.
World number 101 Maximilian Marterer is at his most effective on clay but the German is currently listing aimlessly on tour, with a 0-8 record at this level coming into Roland-Garros. Sets are likely to go both ways as Thompson brings a three-match losing streak of his own into this likely lengthy first encounter but back the Aussie to reach the second round.
