World number 11 Jannik Sinner cruised past Laslo Djere on Friday to get a promising Miami Open campaign underway. The 21-year-old finished runner-up to Hubert Hurkacz here two years ago and he has significantly improved season after season as one of the best of his generation. The Italian lost to the current overall best of his generation, and world number one, Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals of Indian Wells last week and it should take that sort of level to oust him in Miami. World number 27 Grigor Dimitrov came back from a set down to beat Jan-Lennard Struff on Friday but the Bulgarian looks far from his best right now with dropped sets in each of his last three matches against players he should be beating comfortably. Dimitrov beat Sinner in three sets in their only previous meeting back in 2020 but the Italian is a different animal now. Back Sinner to win outright or risk the straight sets.
