Connor Scutt vs Simon Whitlock prediction
Connor Scutt is making his third appearance at Ally Pally this week and the world number 50 is arguably having the best year of his career so far. The 29-year-old has produced his best finish in a number of major tournaments and that has to give him confidence coming into the World Championships.
He has had tough draws on both previous appearances at Ally Pally as he has been eliminated by Gerwyn Price and Damon Heta in the second round in the last two years.
He will now take on Aussie veteran Simon Whitlock for a place in the second round.
Whitlock is certainly in the twilight of his career and it is hard to see him going far in the tournament even if he does win this match.
His form continues to fade and he has struggled in this tournament in recent years; a far cry from 2010 when he finished runner-up to Phil Taylor.
Whitlock is the underdog here and that is no surprise. All the momentum is with Scutt and we expect him to get the win and progress to the second round.
