18-year-old rising star Jakub Mensik set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 81st this week after a brilliant spell in February saw him finish runner-up to Karen Khachanov at the Qatar Open amidst a series of huge results. A brilliant comeback over Borna Coric in Dubai the following week was dampened by a retirement in the following round but the teenager should be fighting fit and raring to go on his Masters debut here at Indian Wells. World number 227 Seong-chan Hong qualified well to make a rare tour-level appearance, also his first at Masters level, but despite recent form on the Challenger circuit this looks like too steep of a jump in quality.
