THE PREDICTION

World number 57 Pedro Martinez overcame Miomir Kecmanovic in three tight sets on Friday, spending half as much time on court as next opponent Gregoire Barrere did in upsetting Sebastian Korda in two. That could be a significant factor in this second match of the day for the pair, with rain heavily delaying the tennis this week in Bucharest, but in-form Martinez still looks capable of edging things on his current momentum. 26-year-old Martinez finished runner-up to Hubert Hurkacz at the Estoril Open two weeks ago, having stunned defending champion Casper Ruud in the semi-finals, and he won the Girona Challenger the weekend before to bring some serious form on his favoured surface.

30-year-old Barrere should not be underestimated after his shock result today but the Frenchman is arguably much more effective on hardcourts. A big win could be the springboard for the Frenchman as he aims to move back inside the top 100 following a tough period on tour but back Martinez to earn a least a set as the more comfortable in these conditions.

TIP: PEDRO MARTINEZ TO WIN A SET
