FIONA FERRO VS DIANE PARRY PREDICTION
27-year-old Fiona Ferro caused a stir at Roland-Garros in 2020 with an excellent run to the last 16 but she has struggled to make much of an impact since, indeed anywhere on tour. The world number 142 received a wildcard to the main draw in Paris but she has been unfortunate to draw a compatriot in Diane Parry as Ferro is still a popular draw here and she would have enjoyed a partisan atmosphere.
As it is, world number 49 Parry looks the solid favourite to come through a likely good-natured three-setter in front of jubilant, albeit neutral, home fans. The 21-year-old reached the third round here in 2022 and she has a solid, compact game for clay with plenty of room to improve.
Recent form has been poor in these conditions but back Parry, who won their only previous tour-level encounter in Lausanne last summer, to reach the second round.
